Love her or hate her, one thing about Wendy Williams is she is the queen of stirring up controversy. She has a biopic coming out on Lifetime that is showing us a peek into the life and career of the “shock jock.” Wendy Williams is known for the gossip, or as she puts it, she brings the heat. But in recent times she has been the subject of gossip and her personal life and problems have been exposed to the public.
It is reported the biopic will talk about her drug use, but what we didn’t know is that she was raped by a celebrity. She reveals that she was sexually assaulted (date rape), by an R&B artist that passed away years ago.
In 1988, Wendy says she went to the man’s hotel room to do drugs. It’s not a secret that Wendy was doing drugs back then. She has been very candid about her past drug use. But, Wendy never revealed that she was raped by Sherrick.
Who is Sherrick?
Born in California in 1957 with the name Lamonte Smith, he was popular after dropping the song, “Just Call”. Wendy being in her early twenties and somewhat star struck was happy to kick it with him. But rather than just party, he attacked her and sexually assaulted her. She never told the story until now.
You will see her life in this movie, and rather than let it come out that way, she is putting her own business out there. Wendy has been going through a lot, with the recent passing of her mother who she was extremely close to. She has also divorced her husband who she was with for years after finding out he fathered a child with his long time misstress.
I hope Wendy finds peace with the trauma she is enduring and remains sober and healthy.
Wendy Williams: The Movie premieres Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime, will you be watching?
